Location:
Spokane, WA.
Hours:
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday; 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Work hours are determined by unit needs and at the discretion of the unit supervisor.
This job opening is available to internal transfer candidates ONLY under Article 4.7 of the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) 2025-27 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

- Apply, obtain/maintain Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor registration per RCW 18.19.030 within 30 days of hire.
- An agency affiliated counselor may provide counseling services as part of employment for a recognized agency. Applicants may provide services within the agency for up to 60/90 days while the Department of Health processes the application. (

- An exception/waiver from the education requirement may be granted per WAC 388-60B-0210 if it does not violate applicable laws; the employee must possess year-for-year professional experience equivalent to the related bachelor’s degree and the department determines equivalency at the program manager’s discretion.
- Two (2) years of demonstrated experience providing individual or group domestic violence intervention treatment, mental health treatment, chemical dependency treatment, or sex offense treatment. Demonstrated experience must include six (6) months of work in group treatment.
- Note:
A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of the required demonstrated experience. - Additional clarification: work experience in treatment/therapy to groups includes planning, implementation, and direct client treatment services; may be obtained during master’s degree internships.
- Licensing as a Psychologist, Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor may be substituted for the Affiliated Counselor registration. Continuing education and adherence to licensure requirements apply.
