Position Summary

Provide Community Based Therapeutic Intensive Services using counseling, crisis intervention, skill building, and advocacy. Facilitate and participate in the wrap around meetings. Provide services to ten families engaged in the WISe program (Wrap-Around Intensive Services) whose children have severe mental health needs and may be at risk of psychiatric hospitalization. Provide services primarily in client homes. Be available to respond to client crises when they occur.

Reports to the WISe supervisor.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Structure services consistent with the WISe service model:
  • Serve an average of 10 families at a time.
  • Participate in a team model of wrap-around.
  • Maintain a flexible work week, scheduling sessions at times that are convenient for families, and when problems are likely to occur, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Travel to client homes and other locations.
  • Provide back-up and support for other team members as needed.
  • Conduct clinical interventions consistent with the WISe model:
  • All services are delivered with IFD core values in mind: safety of child, family driven, strength based, collaborative and culturally relevant.
  • Assess safety, structure the environment and use clinical strategies designed to promote safety. Follow program guidelines and mandatory reporting statutes when responding to safety concerns.
  • Conduct client-interactive, comprehensive, strength and behavior-focused assessments (CANS).
  • Collaborate with family members in developing intervention goals and service plans. Monitor progress, analyze barriers to goal achievement, and help families revise goals or plans as needed.
  • Utilize motivation enhancement strategies to increase client motivation to change.
  • Provide a range of clinical and advocacy services to family members that are consistent with and tailored to each family’s values, learning styles, lifestyle, circumstances and culture.
  • Utilize research-based cognitive and behavioral strategies to facilitate behavior change.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to help families acquire, maintain and generalize skills.
  • Participate in the Wrap-Around team meetings by collaborating and advocating with formal and informal community resources and systems, while teaching family members to advocate for themselves.
  • Advocate for concrete goods and services that are directly related to the family’s goals, while teaching family members to meet these needs on their own.
