• Assist the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures.
• Assist in the preparation of surgical services to ensure suite setup is appropriate.
• Create and maintain a sterile field, provide equipment and supplies, and perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts.
• Provide visualization of the operative site.
• Pull cases independently using preference sheets and OR special equipment lists.
• Update and review case lists, making changes as necessary.
• Check cases and equipment prior to the start of surgery.
• Verify efficacy of equipment, operate, maintain, and record its status.
• Document efficacy of equipment in accurate operative records.
• Know proper assembly, operation, and disassembly of all OR equipment and attend in‑service on new equipment.
• Complete competency evaluations and maintain skill proficiency.

• Licensed Surgical Technologist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
• At least one year of experience with scrub skills.
