This full-time position is located at the SRHD main campus, has a dedicated Monday-Thursday dayshift schedule, and starts at $31.39/hr.

The Registered Dietitian 1 provides competent professional nutrition assessment, counseling, and education individually or in a group setting along with breastfeeding education and support to qualified women, infants, and children. This position may also be responsible for other professional activities that address the nutritional risk factors developed by the State WIC program. These activities may include obesity prevention, maternal smoking, provider outreach, coordination of state breastfeeding policy requirements, carrying out the breastfeeding peer counselor program, and other duties as listed below.

Essential Functions Include:
  • Provides individual high‑risk nutrition counseling, certifications, and health assessments.
  • Develops patient/family nutrition care plans and documents medical records.
  • Explains and issues WIC cards and Farmers Market checks according to DOH WIC policies.
  • Develops and conducts nutrition classes and written and visual information on variety of subjects, including food preparation and menu planning and use of different types of foods.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Health Education, Public Health, Community Health, or other closely related degree.
  • Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Registered Dietitian (RD) and Washington State Certified Dietitian (CD).
  • Washington State Medical Assistant Registration must be completed within six months of hire date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six months of public health or dietetics experience
  • IBCLC (Certified Lactation Consultant) or have completed an intensive certification course within the last five years.
