Job Title: Surgical Technician - Main OR
Location: Spokane, Washington
Employment Type: Full Time
The Surgical Technician is responsible for assisting in surgical procedures under the direction of the supervising surgical technologist and/or circulating RN. This role involves preparing and maintaining the sterile field, selecting and setting up instruments and supplies, and supporting the surgical team to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care.
Surgical Technicians may be assigned to multiple functional areas including Case Carts
, Turnover Team
, and Service Line Surgical Tech responsibilities to support optimal operating room flow and performance.
- Prepare the sterile table with instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for surgical procedures.
- Maintain sterile technique and assist the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during surgery.
- Handle and care for surgical instruments and equipment before, during, and after procedures.
- Participate in room setup and turnover, ensuring readiness for subsequent cases.
- Collaborate with circulating nurses and other team members to promote a safe and efficient operating room environment.
- Assist in maintaining accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments per policy.
- Support and uphold infection control and patient safety protocols.
- May perform circulating assistant duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Contribute to service line responsibilities and meet departmental performance goals.
- Education:
Graduate of an accredited Registered Surgical Technician Program. - License/Certification:
- Washington Surgical Technologist Registration – required upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association, required upon hire.
- Experience:
Minimum 1 year of hospital experience as a Caregiver or equivalent clinical exposure.
- Previous experience in a Main OR or acute care hospital setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
