The Construction Engineering Services Practice is seeking a Construction Inspector/Engineer-in-Training in Spokane, WA
.

In this position, you will provide on‑site construction inspections and applicable documentation for transportation projects, including observation of construction work activities for compliance with plans and specifications, preparation of required contract documentation, and following prescribed Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures consistent with State and Local guidelines. Additionally, you will assist with project design teams including project set‑up, drafting, design, quality review and quality assurance, project coordination/organization, for a wide range of transportation projects.

What

You’ll Do
  • Coordinate, perform, and/or supervise technical engineering work in the field.
  • Inspect, observe, and ensure that a construction project is constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of the work (labor, equipment, materials, quantities).
  • Identify contract changes and assist in preparation of change orders.
  • Communicate effectively with the Contractors, Owners, Construction Manager, Project Documentation Engineer, or other field engineering staff.
  • Prepare field note records for progress payments.
  • Coordinate for required materials sampling and testing.
  • Prepare and/or modify construction documents, reports, specifications, cost estimates, and designs for projects.
What You Bring

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively with client representatives, contractors, the public, as well as peers and subordinates.
  • Excellent skills in working independently in the field.
  • The successful candidate must be able to effectively multitask, prioritize, and track construction issues through completion.
  • Clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of construction inspection experience working on large roadways, bridges, and highway projects.
  • General contracting experience.
  • WSDOT project experience (ITD and ODOT are also considered).
  • WSDOT Inspector Certifications (ITD and ODOT are also considered).
  • Experience inspecting Federally funded projects.
  • Drafting and design experience with Bentley Open Roads and/or Civil 3D for the design of alignments and 3D design surfaces.
  • Engineer-in-Training Certification.
