Physical Security Engineers work on various projects as assigned by a Department Manager or Lead Engineer. This position will play a role in the entire design process including preliminary assessments, concept creation, leading designs with support from your peers, internal and external problem resolution, drawing and specification production, and customer and vendor accessibility.
Responsibilities- Lead security design efforts and create schematics, schedules, and plan drawings.
- Perform calculations for video storage, bandwidth usage, and power loads.
- Coordinate with architectural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams to identify potential conflicts or inconsistencies.
- Design and develop security solutions for buildings, facilities, and sites.
- Use security technology with an established professional network of industry contacts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical/scientific discipline; master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
- Professional security certifications (CISSP, CPP, PSP, etc.) are a plus.
- 12+ years of professional experience in planning, designing, and commissioning physical security systems and/or communication networks; project management experience is a plus.
- In‑depth knowledge of physical security systems, including video surveillance, access control, biometric systems, and intrusion detection.
- Experience conducting vulnerability and risk assessments.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, Revit, ACC, BIM
360, AutoCAD, or Micro Station. - Strong understanding of network technologies and cybersecurity principles.
- Experience leading projects and managing resources.
- Experience mentoring junior staff.
- Design Management experience.
- Design experience in data centers.
