Overview

St. Charles Catholic Classical School in Spokane, WA, is seeking a joyful, faith-filled, and intellectually inspiring Middle School Choir Director.

Position:
Middle School Choir Director Grades 6-8 (part-time)

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a sequential and appropriate plan of study for middle school students
  • Form students in vocal technique and choral performance
  • Integrate music literacy, sight-singing, and foundational music theory into rehearsal instruction
  • Adequately prepare students for liturgical celebrations and performance opportunities for the school and parish communities
  • Create a classroom environment characterized by order, joy, and intellectual seriousness
  • Communicate effectively with parents and school leadership
  • Collaborate with faculty to support the school's mission and Catholic identity
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in music, music education, or related field
  • Commitment to living and teaching in fidelity to the Catholic faith
  • Demonstrated ability to teach choral performance to middle school students
  • Washington State Teaching Certificate preferred (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience directing music at a Catholic parish and strong familiarity with Roman Catholic liturgy desirable
  • Experience teaching middle school preferred
  • Demonstrated love for the liturgy and music of the Catholic Church, intellectual inquiry, and the formation of young minds and hearts
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $13,153-$23,041 (Salary dependent on applicant's skills and relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.)
  • Part-Time Benefits:
    Sick Leave, One Personal Day, Employee Paid Retirement Plan 403(b), & Employer Paid Retirement Plan 401(a) of 6% after one year of employment and 1,000 hours, and 21 years of age.
  • * If you have additional qualifications in other subject areas, this could increase FTE with the possibility of a full-time position.
