Job Summary

The Eastern Washington University, School of Social Work, Child Welfare Training & Advancement Program (CWTAP) is currently seeking a full‑time faculty member at the rank of Lecturer beginning spring quarter 2026 (3/16/2026), with the potential for a summer adjunct contract starting during summer 2026. This position has a nine‑month academic year appointment with an anticipated three‑month summer appointment (CWTAP faculty work full‑time, year around).

This position is anticipated to be ongoing and renewed annually dependent on performance, need, and grant funding. The CWTAP has a 25+ year history of successful grant renewal. Interested candidates currently working in the Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) or other state service may be eligible for an intergovernmental leave of absence.

The Child Welfare Training & Advancement Program (CWTAP) is a partnership between Eastern Washington University, University of Washington, Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence, and Washington’s Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). CWTAP’s goal is to enhance professional practice in child welfare, provide educational assistance to current and/or potential social workers who are committed to a career in public child welfare, and to recruit and retain a variety of highly trained social workers with baccalaureate and advanced degrees.

CWTAP students complete their practicum in a DCYF child welfare office, the Washington state agency mandated to protect children from abuse and neglect and to provide child welfare services to families. The CWTAP within the EWU School of Social Work provides educational assistance to current and/or potential social workers who are committed to a career in public child welfare and are accepted and enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) or one of the EWU Master of Social Work (MSW) full or part‑time programs.

Eastern’s Spokane MSW part‑time program begins new cohort cycles every two years. Eastern’s part‑time programs operate on a three‑year cycle for each student cohort; during the last two years of the cohort cycle students are in practicum. Eastern’s Cheney full‑time program begins new cohorts every fall. Both part‑time and full‑time programs offer an Advanced Standing option. At this time, we are recruiting to fill one position, to be renewed annually that will support students in the BASW program, Spokane MSW part‑time and Cheney full‑time programs.

The School of Social Work offers a wide variety and breadth in programs, including full‑time BASW and MSW programs, and part‑time MSW programs offered at sites throughout Washington State, including advanced standing options. The social work programs prepare students for competency‑based generalist and advanced generalist social work practice in both rural and urban communities.
