Job Summary

Eastern Washington University’s College of Professional Programs – School of Psychology invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Psychology to support the NASP accredited EdS School Psychology Program and other School of Psychology needs. The position will begin September 16, 2026. Candidates must be located in or be willing to relocate to the greater Spokane‑Cheney area.

Compensation & Benefits

Salaries: $69,704 per annum. Responsibilities
  • Teach 36 credits per academic year in the NASP accredited EdS School Psychology Program, including courses such as Psycho-educational Group Theory and Process, School Psychology Consultation, Intro to Social‑Emotional Learning for Educational Equity, Family, School, and Community Collaboration, Practicum, and Internship.
  • Develop, organize, and deliver course content, materials, and assessments in accordance with program standards.
  • Schedule office hours, advise students, write recommendations, assess learning outcomes, and grade students in a timely manner.
  • Collect, retain, and disseminate course and program data for accreditation and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional best practices, and student supervision.
  • Supervise students in applied experiences such as research, practicum, portfolio, and internship.
  • Participate in EdS School Psychology meetings, School of Psychology meetings, University meetings, retreats, and graduation ceremonies.
  • Advise undergraduate and graduate students on program, university, and career requirements.
  • Contribute to university, college, and school committees and support NASP approval activities.
  • Engage in leadership of professional organizations (e.g., PEAB, WSASP, regional groups).
  • Produce scholarly work, including publications, presentations, and grant development for research funding.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D., Psy.

    D., Ed.D. or ABD in School Psychology (or related field with specialist training as a school psychologist). ABD candidates must receive the doctorate by September 1, 2026.
    • Doctorate in a related field with specialist training as a school psychologist.
    • ABD candidates in School Psychology, doctoral degree conferred by September 1, 2026.
  • Eligible for Washington State ESA certification in school psychology.
  • Ability to teach courses in school psychology and related specialties, demonstrated by coursework, prior teaching experience, research, and/or publications.
  • Ability to advise students and supervise practicum/internship, applied experiences, and/or research.
  • Proficiency with basic computer processes including word processing, database, e‑mail, and instructional technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that supports the diverse needs of students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP).
  • Psychology licensure or licence‑eligible in Washington State.
  • Experience working with school districts and in professional settings as a school psychologist.
  • PREPaRE Certified Trainer certification.
  • Experience teaching university or college graduate‑level Psychology courses.
