The Department of Modern Languages and Literature at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington is seeking an instructor to teach the elementary Arabic language sequence using a communicative approach. The successful candidate will have the enthusiasm, classroom presence and skills to engage students in their language learning and should be committed to pursuing excellence in teaching and promoting an inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will be fully responsible for course planning, delivering class sessions, creating and collecting assignments, submitting grades, and be available to students for office hours for one hour per week per course. The Modern Languages and Literature Department is committed to building an intellectually vibrant and culturally inclusive community for our students, faculty, and staff.

Essential Functions- Teach the elementary Arabic language sequence using a communicative approach.
- Grade lab assignments and provide feedback to students; submit mid-semester and final grades via Canvas.
- Hold at least 1 office hour per lab section per week.
- MA in Arabic or related field.
- Experience teaching language and culture in a classroom setting.
- Advanced proficiency in Arabic and English language.
- PhD in Arabic or related field.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness, including the ability to effectively respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience using classroom strategies and pedagogies to advance equity and inclusion.
- Experience teaching North American students in an undergraduate classroom setting.
