This is an Aboriginal Health Practitioner position to support the delivery of the Deadly Ears in Deadly Hands Trial, a randomised controlled trial examining whether measurable impact of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Professionals in Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) paediatric wards, by conducting ear examinations and providing culturally appropriate support and health education for children and their families.

• Screening, recruiting, and supporting families participating in the Deadly Ears in Deadly Hands Trial.
• Conducting clinical assessments and follow-up with children in line with study protocols.
• Working collaboratively with the research team and health service partners to ensure high quality, culturally safe research delivery.
• Participating in training and contributing to ongoing improvements in study procedures and research practice.

This position is based in Darwin and includes travel to remote communities by light aircraft or 4WD for participant recruitment, for up to three (3) days per trip and up to two (2) trips per year.

As a motivated and community-focused health professional, you will have a strong interest in contributing to health research and improving outcomes for children. You may or may not have previous research experience and will be supported to build your skills. You will also have:

• Qualifications and experience as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner.
• Demonstrated experience working with patients, clients, research participants or community members.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Aboriginal people and people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.

• Base salary $90,872 - $97,646 per annum, pro‑rata (total remuneration package including superannuation $113,787 - $121,509 per annum, pro‑rata).
• Indigenous Knowledge Allowance of $3,340 per annum, pro‑rata.
• Generous leave provisions including 6 weeks annual leave.
• Salary packaging up to $15,900 per annum and $2,650 meal and entertainment card tax‑free.
• Option to increase superannuation to 14%.
