Eastern Washington University Police Department seeks a highly skilled Executive Assistant / Clery Compliance Officer to provide high‑level administrative support to the Chief of Police and command staff while ensuring full compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The role requires exceptional organizational, communication, and confidentiality skills in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage executive calendars, schedule meetings, coordinate briefings, and prepare the Chief for all engagements.
- Coordinate travel, prepare travel requests, and complete expense reports.
- Draft, edit, and prepare executive‑level correspondence, memos, reports, and presentations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors, phone inquiries, and confidential communications.
- Prioritize and triage incoming communications and high‑importance issues.
- Oversee records retention, deletion, and organization of personnel, case, and administrative files.
- Submit NIBRS reports and prepare administrative and statistical reports.
- Assist in budget development, forecasting, and monitoring; supervise a support staff member.
- Maintain the department website and manage the Livescan fingerprint program.
- Lead the Clery Act Compliance Program, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Serve as Campus Safety Survey Administrator and manage the Timely Warning program.
- Ensure annual Clery‑compliant training exercises and documentation requirements are met.
- Pass a state and federal background check.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or related field (substantial experience may substitute).
- Prior experience in upper‑level administrative support.
- Professionalism, confidentiality, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Interpersonal skills for collaborative work across departments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
- Understanding of basic financial management, accounting, and budgeting concepts.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in high‑stress situations.
- Responsive and flexible approach supporting universal access for students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Experience with Clery Act compliance.
- Familiarity with Title IX or other regulatory reporting.
- Three or more years in higher‑education or similar environment.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Prior law‑enforcement experience.
