The Role
We are looking for new Support Workers to join our established teams in Ferryhill in County Durham who provide care and support to Adults with Learning Disabilities. You will be expected to support Customers to meet their personal care needs, including administration of medication. It is vital that staff respect the individual and respond in a positive manner to meet each Customer s personal need.
You will be required to support Customers to access the local community and to try new experiences. Some of the Customers enjoy specific hobbies but there is so much more they would like to do and as a Support Worker you can help to make their lives productive. Support will also be required for each person in areas such as health, budgeting and domestic tasks.
Waking nights or sleep in shifts will be required, this will vary depending on the specific project.
- Provide care and support to Adults with Learning Disabilities as part of established teams in Ferryhill.
- Support customers to meet personal care needs, including administration of medication, while respecting individuals and responding positively to meet each customer s needs.
- Help customers set and achieve personal goals; encourage, enable and promote life skills; foster independence and positive risk taking.
- Support access to the local community and help customers try new experiences; assist with health, budgeting and domestic tasks as required.
- Be forward thinking with a positive outlook; provide motivation, guidance and direction to help customers live a full and rewarding life.
- Encourage and offer choice and promote independence.
- Some roles may include waking nights or sleep-in shifts depending on the project.
- You do not need to have experience, but it is essential that you share our values. A positive attitude and desire to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, with progression opportunities offered throughout your career with us.
- Driving Licence is preferred but not essential.
