Position: Superintendent roles in 3 locations – Spencer, IA;
Ames, IA; and Iowa City, IA.
Job Overview: We are seeking a reliable, goal-driven Construction Superintendent to immediately fill an open position in Spencer, Iowa. The Superintendent will provide on-site leadership and management for commercial construction projects, ensuring all work is completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role requires hands‑on construction experience and the ability to oversee all phases of the project lifecycle. This is a direct-hire position.
Whatyou will be doing as a Superintendent
- Provide day-to-day on-site management and supervision of commercial construction projects
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, labor crews, materials, and equipment
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards
- Enforce jobsite safety policies and maintain compliance with all safety regulations
- Monitor project schedules and budgets, identifying and resolving issues proactively
- Perform or assist with construction tasks as needed, including:
- Demolition and site preparation
- Earthwork and grading
- Mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete
- Layout and framing of structures
- Installation of subfloors, walls, and ceilings
- Steel and precast erection
- Metal stud framing and carpentry
- Welding and signaling equipment operators
- Maintain clear communication with project managers, subcontractors, and clients
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or lead role on commercial construction projects
- Proven experience with concrete footings, foundations, and slab‑on‑grade (SOG)
- Proven experience with steel and precast erection
- Proven experience with metal stud framing and carpentry
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, safety standards, and jobsite best practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Reliable, self‑motivated, and results‑oriented work ethic
