Job Summary
Composite technicians are responsible for manufacturing parts using specialized equipment, which involves different techniques to modify carbon, and other composite materials which allow the technician to create parts and structures according to project specifications. These technicians must be proficient with mechanical machinery, and strong interpersonal skills are also important to explain the creation and troubleshooting processes to other Dallara employees.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesN/A
Composite technicians must be able to:- Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and technical data sheets.
- Follow standard document procedures, including filling out Travelers and initialing paperwork.
- Laminate parts by proper placement of composite materials into molds following ply schedules, ply books, or laser systems.
- Prepare parts for bagging, including placement of release film or peel ply, bleeders, thermocouples, and vacuum connections.
- Vacuum bag processing, bonding, and oven/autoclave curing.
- Perform post production processing:
Demolding, trimming, grinding, sanding, cutting, drilling, countersinking, and cleaning. - Surface prep, using grit blast, hand abrade, and power abrasion techniques.
- Assembly of parts including set up, bonding, and fastener applications.
- Handling, mixing and applying various resin/catalyst materials and other chemicals and solvents.
- Knowledge of basic safety procedures and utilization of personal protective equipment.
- Make basic layouts or reference points on parts or assemblies to check dimensions using calipers, micrometers, and precision scales.
- Verify work to ensure a defect free part prior to presenting to quality control.
- Work efficiently and effectively with extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of excellence.
- General understanding of ISO
9001 and AS9100 quality management systems and adhere to ISO
9001 and AS9100 quality standards. - Adept in Technology.

Exposure is frequent to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles (eye protection is required), fumes, machine vibration, noisy conditions (hearing protection is required), high temperatures and occasionally operating in a restricted work area.
Physical Demands- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel; reach with hand and arms, and stoop, kneel or crouch. Constant standing throughout the shift is required.
- Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
- Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
This is a full-time position.
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5: p.m.
Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
