Overview
Job Description: This position earns between $613.50 - $1803.00 weekly contractual wage. As an employee of AT&T you are eligible for amazing perks and benefits.
Responsibilities- Provide consistent, respectful and professional internal/external customer care and maintain open lines of communication to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Work with heavy duty power equipment and small tools in the installation, repair and maintenance of outside plant facilities.
- Load necessary tools and heavy equipment onto trucks or trailers.
- Receive work assignments and instructions from supervisor and/or through a computer access terminal.
- Operate power equipment such as compressors, pumps, blowers, hydraulic aerial lifts (buckets), and ladders mounted on trucks.
- Perform construction work such as digging holes, placing poles, placing cable, air pipe and inner duct in various conduit systems and open excavations.
- Unreel, pull, and string wire strand and cable from pole to pole and to buildings; determine differences between wire and cable colors; connect wires and cables to terminals and attach/detach hardware.
- Splice and test PIC and non-pressurized cable and create appropriate enclosures.
- Use test equipment to check for toxic and explosive gas in manholes and manage water and debris removal as needed.
- Dismantle, move or remove aerial, underground or building wire and associated equipment and hardware.
- Review and interpret work orders, work prints and Company practices.
- Work outside in all kinds of weather; climb poles and ladders; enter tunnels, buildings, trenches, crawl spaces and manholes to place cables and equipment.
- Follow established safety procedures and safely utilize equipment per manufacturer's specifications, including weight limitations.
- Lift and move loads up to 120 pounds.
- Work with fiber optic cable from the distribution terminal to the customer premises and identify color coded wires for connections.
- Splice and test non-pressurized cables in aerial, underground, buried, or building configurations, including fiber optic cables.
- Perform tap-ins and energizing counts; identify conductors in adjoining cable sections per diagrams and specifications using test signals and fiber optic test equipment.
- Close splices with waterproof enclosures and shrinkable sleeving as applicable; repair and reorganize cable plant and related equipment.
- Use test equipment to isolate conductor faults or identify defective or broken fibers; turn up, troubleshoot and maintain digital carrier equipment and associated terminals.
- Use cable locators and other test equipment to verify and determine defects in cables, conductors and wires.
