Service Technician Description :
Opsource of Spartanburg has partnered with a Textile plant located in Spartanburg, SC. We are seeking a Field Service Technician to reclothes/winds wire on textile machinery cylinders, doffers and miscellaneous rolls at customer locations.

Job function:

Performs tear down/build back service on carding equipment and C70 cards. The candidate is expected to use knowledge of the trade, people skills, customer orientation and professionalism in carrying out his or her responsibilities. Employee needs to be mechanically inclined and willing to travel.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Reclothes rolls for C70 cards at customer site.
  • Performs tear down/build back services as needed on the C70 cards.
  • Completes flats and lickerins by reclothing and refurbishing.
  • Accurately reads gauges and dials on various machines.
  • Completes required paperwork promptly and correctly, i.e. service reports, time sheets, etc.
  • Observes and adheres to all safety regulations.
  • Pays attention to quality of work.
  • Interacts with customers at customer place of business and obtains signatures on service reports as necessary.
  • Maintains shop equipment, assigned winding equipment and other tools.
Additional Duties:
  • Transports flats, boxes, inventory via buggies, fork lift or hand trucks within shop area and/or to card in plant.
  • May be asked to train new associates as needed.
  • Complies with safety regulations. Lock out, tag out equipment when not in use.
  • Reports any customer, accident/injury and/or safety issues to Service Manager immediately.
  • Keep work area (at customer sites as well as shop) clean.
General:
  • Assists as needed with inventory, i.e. inventory cycle counts, etc.
  • Complies with all applicable safety and health standards issued by OSHA.
  • Maintains a safe, clean and healthful workplace.
  • Additional duties or assignments may be given by Shop/Service Manager, President & CEO or his superiors.
Attributes / Skills:
  • Must be able to do precision-type work. Pays attention to quality.
  • Must possess ability to take direction and to also work unsupervised. Must be good problem solver.
  • Must be able to work quickly, sometimes under pressure.
  • Most possess good time management skills
  • Must have a responsible attitude to health and safety. Adheres to all safety rules in customer facility, and ours.
  • Some computer experience required & Microsoft Excel a plus.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, externally as well as internally.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, and safety standards.
Requirements
  • Must possess good manual/mechanical skills. Technical/mechanical background in card clothing preferred.
  • Work experience in textile card rooms is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Required to be on call and to work outside the normal business hours according to business situations, including working nights, weekends or holidays as necessary.
  • Must respond to service calls when needed.
  • Must physically be able to stand for extended periods of time with some bending and stooping required.
  • Must be able to lift 100+ lbs.
  • Must be able to operate hand truck with weight of 440 lbs. or more.
  • Must be able to push buggy with potential weight of 1,250 lbs. for a distance of up to sixty feet on level ground.
  • Ability to travel via automobile.
  • Attendance at job-related training classes in the U.S. as requested or agreed upon by management.
  • Initial On-the-Job training to take place in Spartanburg, SC. Required to stay in Spartanburg Mondays through Fridays for training. Training may last from 2-3 months, dependent upon each candidate's speed of learning.
  • May be required to travel to a customer's site to train or to assist with job.
Pay: 25/hr

Shift: Flexible day shift hours, it will vary day to day.
