Roebuck Landscaping (RL) is seeking a driven, relationship focused Business Developer to fuel growth within our Commercial Landscape Maintenance division. This role is responsible for sourcing, pursuing, and closing new recurring maintenance contracts across the Upstate of South Carolina.

This position is ideal for a true hunter who thrives on building pipelines, creating opportunity, and converting relationships into long term partnerships. You will represent RL in the marketplace, positioning us as the preferred commercial maintenance provider through trust, expertise, and consistent follow through.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Business Development & Sales Strategy:

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new commercial maintenance accounts across the Upstate region.
  • Create and execute a business development strategy aligned with RL’s growth goals.
  • Leverage industry insights and market data to prioritize target clients and territories.
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline using a CRM and track key performance metrics.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with decision-makers, property managers, GCs, developers, and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as the face of RL’s Commercial Maintenance Division in the marketplace.
  • Conduct site visits, prepare proposals, and present RL’s value proposition with confidence and professionalism.
  • Present service solutions that align with client goals and budgets.
  • Ensure a seamless transition from sales to operations, supporting long-term client satisfaction.

Proposal & Bid Execution:

  • Lead the development of tailored proposals, presentations, and RFP responses.
  • Collaborate with operations and estimating teams to ensure accurate scope and pricing.
  • Represent RL in pre-bid meetings, walkthroughs, and industry events.
  • Negotiate terms and close contracts with confidence and professionalism

Brand & Market Positioning:

  • Elevate RL’s visibility in the Upstate market through active networking, association involvement, and thought leadership.
  • Stay current on competitor activity, market trends, and client feedback to adapt strategies.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring RL is viewed as a trusted and innovative partner.

FIRST YEAR EXPECTATIONS & ONGOING EXCELLENCE

  • Secure $1.5M+ in new recurring maintenance contracts during the first 12 months.
  • Establish a proactive outreach rhythm to generate a minimum of 20+ new prospect meetings per month.
  • Build a high-conversion proposal pipeline and track closing ratios monthly.
  • Strengthen internal handoff process to operations for seamless client onboarding.
  • Partner with marketing to develop targeted collateral, case studies, and digital campaigns.
  • Become a trusted partner to RL leadership, offering insights into market opportunities and sales performance.
  • Demonstrate measurable ROI from sales initiatives and maintain high client retention levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred but not required for the right candidate with strong sales experience.
  • Proven Track Record: 3–5+ years of business development or outside sales experience, preferably in commercial landscaping, facility services, or B2B industries.
  • Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Upstate SC market and local business landscape.
  • Sales Expertise: Exceptional communication, presentation, and closing skills.
  • CRM Proficiency: Comfortable using sales software to manage pipeline and reporting.
  • Problem-Solving: Positive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to address client challenges effectively.
