Job AccountabilitiesThis fast‑paced manufacturing facility requires a dedicated forklift operator to support production and distribution activities.
Responsibilities- Operate equipment and transport product throughout the facility, focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and minimizing spoilage.
- Maintain and service production lines with materials such as plate, ends, pallets, top frames, chipboard, and copper wire as dictated by production schedules.
- Move materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas using forklifts.
- Organize and secure materials, store pallets, and ensure proper placement in the warehouse.
- Manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
- Manually stretch wrap and band product as needed.
- Conduct visual inspections of all pallets/materials, repairing or replacing defective or damaged goods before loading trucks.
- Communicate material handling, shipping, quality issues, or other relevant information to the next shift’s forklift driver.
- Complete necessary documentation such as tally sheets, picklists, and warehouse placement forms.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑inspection of forklift equipment, report needed repairs, and ensure safe operation.
- Adhere to safe work practices, Crown plant rules, and housekeeping standards.
- Assist, train, and coach new operators as required.
- Complete annual forklift operator training provided by the company.
- Perform additional duties as requested by supervisor.
- Forklift‑certified with at least 2 years of proven forklift experience in a warehousing and manufacturing environment.
- Safe and excellent driving skills on a forklift.
- Ability to get on and off the forklift multiple times during a shift.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and legibly complete associated paperwork and documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to give and receive instructions.
- Safety and quality minded with a willingness for excellence in all aspects of the job.
- Must be able to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Experience moving and stacking pallets in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of AS400.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
- History of focusing on safety and quality in every aspect of the job.
- Ability to operate industrial forklifts to transport materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
- Work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic mathematical and computer/data‑entry skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
