Industrial Maintenance Technologist — CNC, Laser & Finishing Systems

A day in this role

You start your shift with a quick scan of the production floor. A CNC mill is due for its preventive service, the laser cutter needs a beam alignment check, and the finishing line’s Ransohoff flow-through parts washer is queued for a valve inspection. Between tasks, you’ll take a call about a 480V power drop for a new workstation, then step over to a bowl vibrator for a mechanical tune-up.

By mid afternoon, you’re fabricating a guard with TIG, validating airflow on a new process-cooling fan, and logging everything you’ve completed in the maintenance system so the team’s history stays accurate and actionable.

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair CNC machines, laser cutters, and other manufacturing assets to keep uptime high.
• Service finishing equipment including blasters, vibratory bowls, and Ransohoff flow-through parts washers.
• Build, document, and execute Preventive Maintenance plans for production and facility equipment; keep schedules current and complete.
• Diagnose electrical issues using wiring diagrams; work safely across 110V single-phase up to 480V three-phase systems.
• Plan and carry out safe electrical power drops to machines and workstations for multiple voltage configurations.
• Install and maintain industrial fans for process ventilation and facility cooling.
• Repair and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, including pumps, cylinders, valves, and control components.
• Weld and fabricate custom brackets, supports, and safety guards using MIG, TIG, or Stick methods.
• Interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals to guide accurate repairs and improvements.
• Partner with Engineering and Operations to drive performance improvements and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Record work performed, PM activities, and service history with clarity and completeness.
• Model safe work practices; mentor junior techs in quality, productivity, and safety standards.
• Follow all company policies and safety regulations; help enforce compliance on the floor.

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or an associate degree in Industrial Maintenance (or similar) preferred.
• 5+ years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Hands-on background with:
  • CNC and laser systems
  • Blasting, vibratory, and parts-washing equipment (including Ransohoff)
  • Screw-type air compressors and dryers
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Ability to read/interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and OEM manuals.
• Experience installing and modifying electrical systems from 110V up to 480V.
• Welding and metal fabrication skills (MIG/TIG preferred).
• Competence with installation and troubleshooting of industrial ventilation and fans.
• Familiarity with CMMS tools and maintenance documentation is a plus.
• Organized, clear communicator; able to work both independently and collaboratively.
