The Assistant Director of Clinical Administration serves a pivotal role in the management of licensed clinical staff and their associated administrative duties within Counseling Services with the goal of delivering high‑quality mental health services to students at USC Upstate. This position includes a combination of clinical supervision, the provision of direct clinical services, and administrative responsibilities. It serves on the department’s leadership team and reports to the Clinical Director.
ClinicalAdministration
- Direct daily operations of Counseling Services by coordinating schedules, approving leave requests, and ensuring clinic coverage with minimal disruption.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for licensed clinicians, providing structured feedback to enhance service delivery.
- Collaborate with leadership to assess training needs and connect staff to professional development resources.
- Maintain clear communication with staff regarding clinic policies, workflow updates, and operational priorities.
- Provide direct clinical supervision to staff clinicians, graduate interns, and practicum students.
- Oversee case conceptualization, treatment planning, and documentation, ensuring alignment with professional and ethical standards.
- Deliver structured mentorship and training tailored to the developmental stage of each staff member or trainee.
- Contribute to programmatic improvements in staff development and training initiatives within Counseling Services.
- Provide direct clinical services including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and consultation.
- Conduct initial assessments and provide referrals to appropriate resources.
- Consult with faculty, staff, and/or student groups on a variety of mental health issues.
- Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in university mental health.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with relevant laws and ethical standards.
- Participate in strategic planning and budget management for the counseling center.
- Collaborate with university administration and other departments on mental health initiatives and crisis response.
- Lead and assist in crisis response efforts, provide consultation for at‑risk students, and collaborate with campus partners to promote well‑being.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
A Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, counselor education or related field with a minimum of 3 years of professional clinical counseling experience, ideally in a college/university or similar setting. Successful background check is required.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other CredentialsLicensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of South Carolina.
Salary Range$65,539 – $75,000;
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
