The Lead Direct Support Professional (Lead DSP) plays a key role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting. This position provides hands-on care while also serving as a shift leader, ensuring daily operations run smoothly and team members deliver high-quality, person-centered support.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care and support to individuals, including assistance with daily living skills, community engagement, and personal care as needed.
- Serve as the shift lead by guiding and supporting DSP team members.
- Ensure daily routines, documentation, and service plans are followed.
- Model professional behavior and person-centered practices for staff.
- Communicate effectively with Program Managers, nurses, coworkers, and families.
- Assist with scheduling, training, and mentoring new DSPs.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with DDSN and CLC policies.
- Respond to emergencies and ensure the safety and well-being of individuals at all times.
- Support individuals in achieving personal goals, promoting independence and dignity.
- Minimum age: 18
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2–4 years of relevant experience preferred (DSP, CNA, PCA, RBT, Med Tech, Caregiver)
- Minimum 1 year of Direct Support Professional experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license and Social Security number
- Basic computer and documentation skills
- Ability to pass required background and reference checks
Work Location Flexibility:
While this position is assigned to our Battleground location, all Direct Support Professionals may be required to work at other Charles Lea Center sites as needed based on staffing and operational needs.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves regular standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and hands-on support. Reasonable accommodations are available.
