MLT II Lab Tech - Cherokee Medical Center

Location:

Gaffney, South Carolina, United States

Job : P-104274

Schedule:

Nights (weekends as needed);
Full Time

Hours:

11pm to 7am and 7pm to 7am

Responsibilities
  • Decisions concerning sample collection and handling
  • Daily instrument maintenance and quality control
  • Sample testing
  • Collection and interpretation of data
  • Maintenance of accurate records and reporting of data
  • Knowledge of critical values
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative clinical laboratory studies to comply with physician requests, providing data for diagnosis and treatment of disease
  • Provide and understand the specific communication, developmental and treatment needs of patients, families and visitors across age ranges from neonate to geriatric
  • Comply with established standards and practices; may be asked to modify or reassign duties as necessary
  • Understand and comply with Standards of Behavior and department policies, procedures and regulations
  • Troubleshooting
  • Moderate chemical, biological and/or low-level radiation exposure
  • Communication skills for interaction with the health care team, technical services, and patient education
  • Moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs) or equivalent effort
  • Ability to withstand the stress and demands of an active position and extensive periods of standing, walking, stooping, bending and sitting
  • Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, adequate vision and hearing
  • Ability to operate complex instrumentation
  • Team player with positive interactions; ability to work irregular/flexible hours
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information
  • Maintain credentials and licensure; trained and competent on limited procedures in Highly Infectious Disease Testing
  • Read, write, and speak English fluently; color vision test may be required
Qualifications
  • Education
    Associate degree in Laboratory Science
  • Experience
    1-3 years' experience in a hospital laboratory
  • License/Registration/Certifications
    MLT registry through ASCP
