Position DescriptionA Student Wellbeing Ambassador provides education and support to their peers on specific topics related to student wellbeing, including, healthy boundaries and consent, physical and mental health, substance use and abuse, financial literacy, interpersonal skills, campus and community involvement, and student resources. As a Wellbeing Ambassador, you will:
- Become a NASPA
-certified Peer Educator. - Complete training on brief motivational interviewing.
- Help mentees navigate challenges, make decisions, and set goals.
- Enhance communication skills.
- Conduct proactive outreach to specific groups of students based on institutional data
- Focus on 1-2 key wellness areas for specialized training within specific assigned division. Potential assigned divisions include Health Services, Spartan Rec Center, Counseling Services, CARE Team (financial literacy), and Connect & Protect Team (sexual and relational violence prevention).
- Plan and implement events, tabling, and educational programs.
- Help create a student experience that centers wellbeing into campus life.
Applicants must have:
- Demonstrated curiosity and commitment to improving student wellbeing.
- Interest in learning more about wellness and wellbeing topics.
- Readiness to promote the Spartan Wellness Journey Model with peers:
- Healthy Relationships
- Healthy Routines
- Ability to be a Peer Ambassador for the academic year.
- GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Ability to work up to 10 hours a week.
