Summary
A Field Engineer assists with the daily operations of a project site. The position is stationed at the project site and performs duties through field tasks and inspections to ensure that work on the project meets plan and specification requirements. This position is an entry-level position with growth potential and career progression.
This position is based in Spartanburg, SC 29306.
Skills- Provide support to the Superintendent and other craft workers on the project site.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas (sweep debris, gather and discard trash, scrap iron and wood, etc.)
- Identify hazards associated with task assignments and ask questions when clarification is needed.
- Load/unload materials as needed.
- Assures compliance by becoming intimately familiar with the assigned project plans and specifications. Reviews shop drawings, submittals, and processes RFI's
- Reviews plans from the standpoint of value analysis and constructability, ensuring appropriate materials are utilized.
- Checks all submittals for compliance with specifications.
- Verifies daily production to monitor production goals.
- Monitors quality assurance and testing procedures.
- Verifies compliance with document requirements.
- Helps with processing daily logs in Procore.
- Coordinating field procedures to comply with industry standards.
- Assists in monitoring job safety and assists in coordinating job site clean-up.
- Maintains RFI and submittal logs in the field.
- Assists with layout and verifies it for accuracy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or needed.
- Maintains accurate documentation through email correspondence and Procore.
- Minimum of 1 year previous field experience. 2-3 years field experience preferred.
- Knowledge of basic work methods and techniques.
- Good written and oral communication skills as well as interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar software.
- The ability to read and understand blueprints.
- The ability to prioritize and organize tasks and follow through with completion.
- The ability to understand and apply OSHA and Liles Construction safety requirements.
- Knows how to manage events to achieve goals.
- Is a self-starter and works well without close supervision.
- Has a record of achieving aggressive goals.
- Working knowledge of scheduling programs preferred.
- Have minimum tools associated with trade.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- The field engineer is expected to continuously learn and grow through on-job training
- Additional formal educational training may be required (provided by the company) before advancing
- Field Engineer can expect upward movement within 1-2 years to Field Engineer IIl and 3-5 years to Assistant Superintendent or Project Engineer
