Assistant Teacher toddler and young 2's classroom

Opening available immediately. St. Matthew's Preschool is a faith-based, licensed center serving children 18 months to age 5. This position will be to assist the Lead Teacher in the Toddler-2's classroom. Be prepared to engage and interact with children, actively participating with children on many levels.

• Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children, in play based learning centers.
• Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
• Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
• Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
• Follow all center policies and state regulations.

• Minimum of 6 months of experience working in a licensed child care center.
• High school diploma or greater.
• Be willing to learn and use high quality standards produced by Spartanburg Quality Counts.
• High energy.
• Ability to work well with others.
• An understanding of child development.
• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
• Must be able and willing to take frequent walks, engage in outdoor activity, use hands, fingers and handle objects, to talk clearly and hear voices at different levels.
• Must be able to kneel, bend, squat in the classroom and playground environment.
• Vision ability will include seeing up close and distances, and to have peripheral vision and depth perception.

• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
• 1 year or more of experience working in a licensed child care center.
• ECD 101 and additional Early Care and Education course work.
• Associates degree or higher in Early Care and Education or a related field.
