Utility Systems Operator

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DOD workforce positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Works as a Utility Systems Operator, on alternating shifts, at Fort McCoy's Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants.

• Maintain water and wastewater treatment systems and associated equipment in order to ensure proper operation.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and conduct daily testing of drinking water and wastewater systems in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
• Perform laboratory duties to ensure water and wastewater are meeting standards.
• Use knowledge derived from various sources and experience to maintain and repair water and wastewater plant equipment.
• Perform duties in accordance with all safety and security regulations and guidelines.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Hours of work are subject to rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and irregular hours which may include evenings and nights.
• This position requires a medical examination prior to employment and annual physicals.
• This position requires a valid state driver's license.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 60 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position requires State of Wisconsin Waterworks Grade T Certification OR Wastewater Operator-In-Training Certification within six months of entry at the WG-07 level.
