Position Summary
Provides direct patient care in all clinical departments. Provides assessment, intervention, and treatment for individualized patient care. Interacacts with patient, significant others and other health care team members to coordinate total patient care all areas of the hospital. Communicates with all members of the interdisciplinary team about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, reports emergent changes to the physician and the charge nurse.
Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general respiratory care duties in each patient care area. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, and follows hospital policies, procedures and standards as pertinent to scope of practice and hospital role. Participates in performance improvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
The following qualification, or equivalenrts, are the minimum requirements of this job:
- Education/Formal Training:
Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy - RRT Licensure:
Must hold a current valid license to practice Respiratory Care in North Carolina with no pending or substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or misappropriation of resident or patient property recorded with the Board of Respiratory care. - BLS/ACLS/PALS:
Current certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS required. Must have current BLS certification through the American Heart Association upon hire or obtain within 30 days of hire date
. Must have current ACLS and PALS certification through and approved program upon hire or obtain within 6 months of hire date
hire. - Work Experience:
Knowledge of medical/ surgical, and respiratory care and practices. Minimum of one year of experience preferred but not required. Has working knowledge of North Carolina Respiratory Care Practice Act. Basic computer knowledge.
