Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging, and assisting customers.Cashiers process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.Checkers understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.Checkers adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work to control loss honestly and effectively.Cashiers follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or accidents to management.Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying relevant departments of repairs needed.Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by assisting with product questions.Comply with all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.Support and assist customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
