Northern Nevada State Veterans Home is seeking an Infection Preventionist (RN) to lead and oversee infection prevention and control practices across our community. What You’ll Do (AKA: Your Superpowers)- Lead Infection Prevention & Control
- Develop, implement, and maintain the community's Infection Prevention and Control Program in accordance with state, federal, and local regulations.
- Monitor, investigate, track, and trend infections; identify risk patterns and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, and state health department guidelines.
- Survey Readiness & Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain ongoing readiness for state and federal surveys related to infection control.
- Participate in audits, root-cause analyses, and plans of correction related to infection prevention.
- Collaborate with leadership on QAPI initiatives and continuous quality improvement.
- Education & Staff Support
- Educate, train, and coach staff on infection prevention practices, PPE use, hand hygiene, and isolation protocols.
- Serve as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for infection control best practices.
- Support onboarding and ongoing competency training related to infection prevention.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with the Director of Nursing, Executive Director, and interdisciplinary team to promote resident safety.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and external agencies regarding infection-related concerns.
- Coordinate with local health departments and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Resident Safety & Wellness
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and prevention throughout the community.
- Support outbreak management, exposure response, and mitigation planning.
- Advocate for resident dignity, quality of life, and holistic care while maintaining safety standards.
Education & Licensure
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Active RN license in the state of employment required.
- CPR certification required; infection prevention certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
Experience & Knowledge
- Previous experience in infection prevention, long-term care, assisted living, or healthcare setting preferred.
- Working knowledge of CDC, CMS, and state infection control regulations.
- Experience with surveillance, audits, and regulatory documentation strongly preferred.

Salary: $42.00 - $46.39 per Hour*
Schedule:
Full-time AM;
On-call weekend rotation
