Overview
Mencap are looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team in Spalding. We have both full time and part time contracts available, working across a range of services including supported living and community based support. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.
Responsibilities- Support people with learning disabilities to live as independently as possible and to enjoy fulfilling lives, including day-to-day activities such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, attending appointments, checking mail and managing medication.
- Support people to get out and about in the community, including visits to garden centres, trips to the farm, attending concerts and other social activities.
- Encourage and support interests such as dominoes, arts and crafts, bingo and gardening within the service.
- Work in line with individual support plans, including personal care, manual handling and mobility, following Speech and Language Therapy plans, and Positive Behaviour Support plans.
- Receive full training; bring a caring attitude, patience and a commitment to person-centred support.
- Work across different services in Spalding and support people to access the community, including driving between services as needed.
- Shift patterns vary and can include early mornings and late evenings (7am–10pm). Sleep-in shifts and weekend work on a rota basis are required.
- Full UK driving licence and comfortable driving between services to support people in daily life.
- Ability to work across different services in Spalding and to support people to access the community.
- Willingness to work with personal care, manual handling and mobility needs, and to follow individual support plans and therapy plans.
- Commitment to person-centred support and a caring, patient approach.
