Wealth and Advice Solutions Technology (WAS Tech) is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Wealth and Advice Solutions (WAS) business which is a growth area for Schwab.

This newly created role will support the future growth of the WAS business. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will enable WAS Tech to achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by implementing best practices, tools, metrics, automation frameworks, and provide oversight in the areas of software development and testing. You’ll serve as a strong and versatile hands-on technical engineer. You will deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.

You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the WAS organization which is focused on high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors. Supported business functions span Schwab’s Wealth and Investment Solutions including Schwab Wealth Advisory. You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab’s WAS business and their clients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on software development and testing oversight to enable consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery.
  • Implement best practices, tools, metrics, and automation frameworks to support WAS Tech.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the WAS organization to align technology with business objectives.
  • Contribute to the design and development of software solutions for Wealth and Advice Solutions.
  • Participate in delivery with a Scrum-based, Agile team and ensure timely, effective communication.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 6+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Solid understanding of core Computer Science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and object-oriented design principles.
  • Strong experience developing RESTful APIs with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience working with relational databases (such as SQL Server or Postgre

    SQL) and proficiency in SQL for data modeling and querying.
  • Application development utilizing Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices, including unit testing.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests.
  • Understanding of Agile software development principles and experience working as part of a Scrum-based delivery team.
  • Experience with version control and CI/CD tools (such as Git Hub).
  • Exposure to cloud-native enterprise applications deployed in PCF, AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting production applications.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members.
  • Effective time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience in Wealth Management and/or Financial Services industry.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
