Cashier – Kroger

As a Cashier you’re the first point of contact for customers, greet and assist shoppers, process transactions efficiently, manage cash and various tender types, support store safety and cleanliness, and uphold Kroger’s core values.

• Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP, EBT, WIC, etc., per company policy.
• Adhere to cash shortage/overage guidelines and control loss.
• Follow restricted sale item (Alcohol, Tobacco) guidelines.
• Report pricing discrepancies to Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, coupons.
• Stay current with ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Assist with safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, notify management.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections.
• Create an environment that welcomes customers.
• Follow all local, state, federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in high paced, stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
• Act with honesty, integrity regarding customer and business info.
• Seek assistance when needed to resolve customer issues.
• Provide support through interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, older adults.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Customer service experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).

• Customer service experience.
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
