Legal Counsel, Lawyer
At Peters Kussmaul Crosier PLLC (PKC), we work with founders, business owners, and growing companies across Dallas-Fort Worth and Texas on sophisticated transactional and M&A matters. We operate as outside general counsel for many of our clients, handling everything from acquisitions and exits to complex commercial agreements and strategic structuring.
We are a boutique firm built for high-quality work and strong client relationships. Our model blends big-firm-level legal thinking with a highly personal, relationship-driven approach. We are intentionally small, entrepreneurial, and growth-oriented.
Role
We are seeking a senior Transactional Associate/Counsel-level attorney to join our firm in a high-responsibility role. This is a part-time, senior-level hybrid position based in Southlake, TX, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time role over time. We expect an initial commitment of approximately 20–25 hours per week, with flexibility based on workload and firm growth. This attorney will play a central role in the firm’s transactional practice and will be entrusted with significant autonomy.
The role is designed for an experienced transactional lawyer who is comfortable running deals, managing clients, and supervising junior team members. This attorney will effectively serve as a senior operator within the firm’s transactional practice, with significant responsibility for day-to-day legal execution.
You will work directly with business owners and executives on matters including:
- M&A and small business acquisitions,
- Commercial and corporate agreements,
- General outside counsel matters for growing companies, and
- Strategic legal structuring and risk assessment.
Compensation
$80,000 – $120,000 annually (for part-time), depending on experience and hours.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with:
- 5–10 years of experience in corporate, transactional, or M&A-focused practice
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
- Comfort managing matters independently and making judgment calls
- Strong client-facing skills and business judgment
- Ability to supervise and mentor junior attorneys or law clerks
- JD from an accredited law school
Experience with small business acquisitions, outside general counsel work, and entrepreneurial clients is a strong plus.
This role is designed for an experienced transactional attorney who wants real responsibility, autonomy, and long-term growth in a boutique firm environment. You will have direct client ownership, meaningful influence over firm operations, and the opportunity to grow into a senior leadership role as the firm scales. This role may be a strong fit for attorneys seeking a senior, high-impact role with flexibility, including former biglaw or in-house attorneys, solo practitioners, or attorneys returning to practice.
