We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and manage the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) across multiple locations. This role is responsible for developing, executing, and monitoring quality programs, policies, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives, while also overseeing Export Compliance and ITAR functions. The ideal candidate will have strong aerospace or metals industry experience, excellent leadership skills, and a proactive approach to quality and compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Management & Compliance
- Manage all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products and services.
- Maintain and continuously improve AS9100 and ISO 9001 certifications through regular review, internal audits, and corrective actions.
- Interpret customer, regulatory, and industry compliance requirements and ensure organization-wide awareness and adherence.
- Develop, maintain, and control quality documentation including policies, procedures, work instructions, and records.
- Lead internal and external audits across all locations and ensure timely closure of findings.
- Respond to customer non-conformances using Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies compliant with aerospace requirements.
- Monitor non-conformance trends and lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Identify opportunities for improvement through data collection,, and performance metrics.
- Recommend and implement changes to quality programs, systems, and processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and meet customer specifications.
- Develop and maintain quality metrics, dashboards, and performance trends.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure quality of incoming materials and compliance with requirements.
- Initiate supplier corrective actions and process improvements as required.
- Support customer quality requirements and act as a key quality liaison.
- Oversee all Export Control and ITAR compliance, including policies, training, and audit readiness.
- Manage daily review and approval processes for Export/ITAR-controlled orders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations and maintain proper documentation.
- Directly supervise, coach, and develop quality team members.
- Conduct recurring quality meetings, new-hire quality training, and annual management review meetings.
- Provide unrestricted access to top management to address and resolve quality system issues.
- Perform duties of direct reports as needed to support operational requirements.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field
- (Equivalent experience will be considered)
- Minimum 5 years of quality management experience in:
- Aerospace / Defense manufacturing or
- Metals service center industry
- Strong understanding of metallic materials and metal products
- Proven expertise with AS9100 QMS, including implementation, auditing, and continuous improvement
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and related quality standards
- Experience managing Export Compliance / ITAR requirements
- Demonstrated success leading internal and external audits
- Hands‑on experience with document control systems, CAPA, risk management, and process controls
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to train, mentor, and influence cross‑functional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with ERP / MRP systems
- Standard onsite schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM - Exempt position; overtime expected as needed
- Must be local to Connecticut or willing to relocate
