The Human Resources Assistant provides comprehensive support to the Human Resources Department and plays a vital role in ensuring smooth day-to-day HR operations. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position requires the ability to work independently while also taking direction in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and cultural sensitivity consistent with the customs and traditions of Word of Faith International Christian Center. This role is well-suited for an organized, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about HR policies, people operations, and fostering a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative support to HR leadership and department initiatives
- Respond to employee inquiries and provide accurate HR-related information
- Maintain employee records (digital and physical) with strict confidentiality
- Assist with drafting employee correspondence, including offer letters, agreements, and memoranda
- Prepare meeting agendas; record, distribute, and archive meeting minutes
- Track probationary periods and performance appraisal deadlines; prepare reports for supervisors
- Update HR databases related to new hires, separations, PTO, and medical leave
- Assist with payroll preparation by providing relevant employee data
- Prepare and maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation
- Coordinate HR projects, meetings, trainings, and seminars
- Post job advertisements and manage incoming resumes
- Manage HR department webmail and route inquiries appropriately
- Prepare internal HR reports and presentations
- Conduct new employee orientations and support onboarding activities
- Maintain current labor law postings and stay informed of local, state, and federal regulations
- Participate in departmental strategic planning sessions
- Support continuous learning through professional development and HR publications
- Serve as a reliable, collaborative, and supportive team member
- Associate’s degree in a related field plus 5 years of HR experience or a Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field
- Working knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- High level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general PC literacy
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
