Medical Laboratory Scientist II

We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join a high-volume clinical laboratory. This role involves performing routine and complex laboratory testing while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality patient care.

• Determine specimen acceptability based on established criteria
• Perform routine and complex laboratory testing per SOPs
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
• Make technical decisions related to testing and problem resolution
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents and controls
• Perform and document quality control and preventive maintenance
• Report accurate and timely test results
• Maintain inventory and replenish bench supplies
• Assist with specimen processing as needed
• Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field
• Meets CAP, CLIA, and New York State requirements for high-complexity testing
• Minimum 6 months of clinical laboratory experience
• ASCP or AMT certification required
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with computers; LIS experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Must pass a standardized color vision screen
• Flexible to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed
