Clinical Counselor

If you are interested in providing mental health therapy and programming to a highly motivated population in a collegiate environment this job will be a great fit! Our counseling office is growing and excited to welcome another clinician to serve our students.

Work is expected to include approximately 65% counseling and outreach and 35% administrative tasks, planning, consultation, and/or supervision.

Provide counseling services for students at the university, including short-term psychotherapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, and mental health screenings. Experience and previous work with student athlete populations and/or neurodivergent student populations is beneficial. Provide mental health focused workshops and programs to various campus stakeholders (faculty, staff, and/or students). Outreach may consist of planned programming or developed in response to events impacting the campus community.

Participate in tabling events to increase awareness of counseling services on campus. Support the department in development of electronic outreach including social media marketing.

Develop relationships and collaborate with departments across campus including Career Services, Housing, Office of Access and Accommodations, Athletics, Student Success Center, and Academic departments. For candidates with background or interest this position may serve as liaison to athletics department with focus on athlete and team mental health and performance.

Masters degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology.

1-3 years experience providing mental health counseling to college-aged individuals.

Experience with multicultural, neurodivergent, and student athlete populations.

Must hold or be eligible to hold Michigan licensure in counseling, social work, or psychology. Individuals with limited/temporary license will be considered.
