Arcelor Mittal Global R&D East Chicago Center is seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer to be part of the Arcelor Mittal Electrical Steel applications team. In this position, the engineer will take the lead with customers as a part of a dedicated non-oriented electrical steel product promotion team. This team will comprise commercial and global product experts. Interaction with global product development and plant teams is also essential.
The individual must have high efficiency motor design knowledge and its relation to NOES product and downstream process characteristics. Deep understanding of electromagnetism, electromagnetic materials, and it’s influence on motor design and performance is needed to be successful in this role. This position will report to Global R&D – product portfolio team but will be based out of our Southfield, MI office.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background and be well-versed in electrical motor design and regularly interact with targeted customers to identify the right applications for the products under development or provide guidance to R&D product development team as the pilot for the new products to be developed to meet current and future customer demands of non-oriented electrical steels.
Superior communication and interpersonal skills are required as is the ability to work cross-functionally with other areas of the organization including East Chicago Product Development team, Calvert Operations, Quality, Commercial, and Global R&D. Knowledge and application of advanced data analysis techniques including AI is desirable. Close collaboration on electrical steels processing with Arcelor Mittal’s sister research laboratories is required The candidate will report to Arcelor Mittal’s Global R&D product portfolio team and will be located at our office in Southfield, MI.
Travel both domestic and international up to 40% of the time is also a requirement.
