IHI Turbo America is seeking an experienced Product Engineer. We are a Tier 1 supplier to most manufacturers of diesel, gasoline, fuel cell, and natural gas vehicles. IHI Turbo America serves a wide range of industries including Agriculture, Industrial, Marine, Commercial Vehicle, Military, Passenger Vehicle, and Specialty / Recreational Vehicle. We are one of the world's largest turbocharger manufacturers as well as the only company in the world that mass‑produces screw superchargers.

The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for the technical leadership of turbocharger product development programs, from early pre‑development activities through design release, tooling kick‑off, and production support. This role owns all technical aspects of assigned products, serves as the primary engineering interface with customers, and ensures designs meet performance, durability, cost, quality, and manufacturability requirements. This position requires deep expertise in boosting technologies, compressor and turbine aerodynamics, engine matching, analytical methods, and validation testing, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across global, cross‑functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality.

PRINCIPLE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Technical Ownership
  • Review and interpret customer technical statements of requirements.
  • Define and approve turbocharger design concepts, specifications, and validation plans.
  • Maintain technical accountability for product performance, durability, and compliance.
2. Design, Analysis, and Validation Leadership
  • Direct and oversee design, simulation, and testing activities conducted internally, at global engineering centers, or through external suppliers.
  • Ensure analytical results and test data support design decisions and customer requirements.
3. Program Execution
  • Execute technical reviews aligned with program development milestones.
  • Act as technical lead during the pre‑development phase, coordinating engineering scope, timing, and cost inputs.
4. Customer and Stakeholder Interface
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact with customer engineering counterparts.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations for internal leadership, customers, and industry forums.
5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Participate in weekly global, cross‑functional program meetings.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to ensure robust product launches.
6. Innovation and Intellectual Property
  • Identify, document, and file patent applications to protect technical innovations.
QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or relevant field
  • 5-10 Years of experience in Engineering field
  • Boosting systems and supercharger / turbocharger architectures
  • Compressor and turbine aerodynamics
  • Engine matching and performance optimization
  • Product development processes and validation methodologies
Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Technical presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex, multi‑site engineering activities
Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in global, cross‑functional team

The pay range provided represents the expected compensation for this position. Actual pay will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications, while maintaining fairness with internal pay structures.
