Job Title: Product Engineer
Job Location: Southfield, MI

- Become a key technical contributor within a cross-functional application design team developing next-generation automotive restraint control systems
- Lead and support root-cause analysis of ECU system-level issues occurring internally and at customer sites
- Create, validate, and release ECU configuration files for pre-production and production vehicles
- Provide hands‑on support of product builds, integration events, and major validation activities (DV/PV)
- Prepare, validate, and maintain engineering and customer sample hardware
- Release engineering BOMs (Bills‑of‑Materials) as needed to support project activities
- Develop a strong understanding of electrical, software, and mechanical domain architectures and implementations
- Support domain‑specific engineers in integrating system requirements across product domains
- Serve as a technical link between the product design team and the customer support team
- Interface product knowledge and requirements with ECU manufacturing operations
- Follow applicable Veoneer development and quality processes within the product domain, ensuring proper application throughout the development lifecycle
- Define the need for, and support the development/use of, project‑specific tools to aid product development
- ECU diagnostic communication tools (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, UDS, etc.)
- ECU/MCU data flash programming tools and workflows
- ECU configuration and calibration utilities
- Data acquisition, review, and analysis tools
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree; EE/CE/CS preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel including VBA, Visio, Word)
- Basic lab skills (soldering, use of hand tools, bench equipment)
- Introductory experience and/or coursework in programming (C, Python, VBA, etc.); embedded systems exposure is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication with a professional and collaborative attitude
- Team‑based problem solving
- Commitment to high‑quality execution and continuous improvement
