Grant Accountant
Location: Southfield, MI
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite
Compensation: $60,000 - $70,000

About the Organization
CFS has partnered with a mission-driven, multi-site nonprofit organization supporting grant-funded programs across Southeast Michigan. This role plays a key part in ensuring strong financial stewardship, compliance, and accurate reporting in support of community-focused initiatives.

The Grant Accountant oversees the financial management, reporting, and compliance of multiple grant-funded programs. This position is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and supervising grant-related accounting activities while partnering closely with program leaders and finance management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain grant calendars and ensure timely submission of financial reports and deliverables

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including forecasts and variance analysis

  • Develop and monitor grant budgets and ensure compliance with funding requirements

  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes for grant-funded accounts

  • Review reconciliations, approve journal entries, and oversee cash accounts

  • Provide financial guidance to department leaders and program staff

  • Support audits and assist with organization-wide financial reporting and consolidations

  • Supervise and support accounting staff and grant compliance activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, including budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis

  • 4+ years of supervisory or management experience

  • Experience with grant-funded or nonprofit accounting strongly preferred

  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
