Overview
Description
The CRNA’s primary responsibility will be delivery of anesthesia services.
Responsibilities- Perform and document complete anesthesia pre-op examination and pain assessment before anesthesia medications are given or procedures are started.
- Verify with RN that all patient pre-operative and post-operative instructions and questions have been answered for patient.
- Carefully review patient medications pre-operatively
- Verify that consents are complete and signed
- Assist with in –office procedures to include procedures with varying levels of sedation as ordered by the MD per PSC policy.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking of products as needed.
- Notify appropriate staff if any equipment is in need of repair immediately.
- Examine medications and supplies for expiration date prior to use in patient care.
- Ensures that all anesthesia equipment is present and in good working order prior to use.
Ensure Patient & Staff Safety
- Monitors and assess patient before, during and after anesthesia keeping required documentation.
- Keep accurate and detailed record of the medications used as well as the patient’s response.
- Initiate emergency measures as needed if the patient reacts badly to anesthesia as directed by clinic policy and MD.
- Follow OSHA guidelines, HIPPA and infection control.
- Follow universal precautions when caring for patients;
Use PPE as directed - Follow all PSC policies when caring for patients
- Assist other clinical staff when transferring patients to and from procedure room as needed to maintain patient safety.
- Accurate Documentation of:
All encounters including patient education. - Attend required educational meetings, in-services, and competency validation activities as needed.
- Maintain competency with all equipment and technology used by anesthesia services in the care of patients.
- Complies with clinic dress code policy including and surgical attire.
- Notify staff/manager after each case about supply needs in the anesthesia notebook after each case assisting the department with voiding the need to over-night items or pay increased shipping fees for “rush orders.”
