Job OverviewAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Assessment Team within Children’s Services in Southend-on-Sea Borough

This is an ongoing locum position paying £38.00 per hour

. You will play a crucial frontline role in safeguarding children, undertaking statutory assessments, and making evidence-based decisions that improve outcomes for children and families.

What You Will DoUndertake child-focused statutory assessments and interventions in line with the Children Act 1989 & 2004.
Make robust, evidence-based decisions about thresholds, risk, and necessary interventions.
Hold and manage a caseload of children and families within the Assessment Team.
Prepare high-quality reports for Child Protection Conferences, legal planning meetings, and other statutory forums.
Develop clear, strengths-based plans to reduce risk and improve outcomes for children.
Work closely with health, police, education, early help services, and partner agencies
.
Maintain accurate and timely case recording on the council’s case management system.
Participate in supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development
.
Work in line with Southend-on-Sea policies and Social Work England standards
.
Degree or equivalent in Social Work.
Registered with Social Work England
.
Experience working in Children’s Services within a statutory setting
.
Strong knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and assessment frameworks
.
Ability to manage complex and high-risk cases
.
Strong report writing, assessment, and analytical skills
.
Previous experience within an Assessment or Front Door Team
.
Experience working in a Local Authority setting.
