Job Description & How to Apply Below
Machine Setter Operator - Power Press
Southend-on-Sea | 4-Day Working Week | £36,000-£43,000 DOE
What if your working week finished on Thursday afternoon every week?
This is a stable, long-term role within a well-established engineering manufacturer, offering a 4-day working week, modern machinery, and a supportive team culture where people actually stay.
If you enjoy hands-on mechanical work, setting Power Press machines, and taking pride in quality production, this could be a great next step - even if you're not actively looking right now.
You will be setting, operating, and maintaining mechanical Power Presses used to produce precision metal components for high-volume electrical products. This is a practical, shop-floor role where quality, safety, and consistency really matter.
Your day-to-day will include:
Setting and adjusting Power Press machines (non-CNC)
Carrying out tooling changeovers and safety checks
Completing first-off inspections and basic quality documentation
Monitoring machine performance and reducing downtime
Working to production targets while following standard procedures
Maintaining high health & safety standards (H&S / COSHH)
Supporting continuous improvement where possible
Shift pattern (early shift):
Mon-Wed: 6:30am-4:30pm
Thu: 6:30am-4:00pmThis role offers excellent work-life balance, long-term stability, and the chance to work with well-maintained Power Press machinery in a modern environment.
What is in it for you:
4-day working week - Fridays off, every week
Salary £36,000-£43,000 depending on experience
Long-term, permanent role with a growing manufacturer
Training and development opportunities
Supportive leadership and strong safety culture
Clean, modern facilities with updated equipment
You will likely already have experience setting Power Press / press tooling, enjoy hands-on mechanical work, and take pride in producing quality parts. If you are reliable, safety-focused, and prefer a structured but supportive environment, you will fit in well.
