About the Role

We are currently recruiting a Ward Housekeeper to join a busy healthcare setting in Southend-on-Sea. This is a full-time, temporary position working 37.5 hours per week, supporting clinical staff by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and comfort for patients.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming ward environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

As a Ward Housekeeper, your duties will include:

  • Cleaning and maintaining patients' bedrooms, bathrooms, and communal ward areas
  • Sweeping, mopping, and sanitising floors and surfaces
  • Emptying waste and clinical bins in line with infection control procedures
  • Replenishing supplies such as linen, toiletries, and cleaning materials
  • Supporting ward staff with non-clinical tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
  • Following strict health, safety, and infection control guidelines at all times
  • Ensuring patient areas are kept clean, tidy, and comfortable
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or a healthcare environment is desirable
  • A good understanding of cleanliness and hygiene standards
  • Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A caring and respectful approach when working around patients
  • A valid Standard DBS check is required for this role (or willingness to obtain one)
