Community Adult OT Development post Band 5 to 6The closing date is 15 February 2026
To provide a high standard of Occupational Therapy (OT) and manage a caseload of patients with general / complex conditions, using evidence-based / client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
The post holder will be expected to play an active role as a member of the Community OT Team and participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy.
The post holder will provide induction, supervision & support for relevant junior members of the team and students on practice placement.
The post holder will be proactive in addressing own continuing development need.
* The successful candidate will be required to undertake an internal interview after a period of 12
-18 months to progress to Band 6*
Clinical:
- To be responsible for delivery of Occupational Therapy within the area of general / complex medical conditions, prioritising clinical needs to provide an equitable and effective service.
- To plan and implement effective assessment and treatment programmes,
- To respond effectively to changing needs of the patient caseload, evaluating and modifying treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention
Communication
- To communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues, demonstrating highly developed verbal and non-verbal skills to communicate often complex information, managing barriers to communication such as dysphasia, learning difficulties, cognitive or sensory difficulties.
- To provide advice and demonstration to clients and carers in the use of equipment and other techniques to optimise the client's functional ability, independence and safety
- To accurately record all activity data and maintain clinical records, in a timely manner via our electronic systems. This would include all patient and family/carer contacts as well as time spent on training and travel etc.

- To exercise good practice with time management, punctuality and consistent reliable attendance.

- To facilitate and encourage the sharing of best practice and regularly evaluate clinical interventions, in line with local and national research & development.
