Job Title: Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo)
Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Contract Type: Full-time
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced SENCo to join our friendly and inclusive primary school in Southend-on-Sea. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic professional who is committed to ensuring that all pupils, regardless of their needs, achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and managing SEND provision across the school, working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to provide high-quality support for pupils with additional needs.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Develop, implement, and review SEND policies and procedures in line with statutory requirements
- Coordinate and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) / Support Plans
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure effective differentiation and inclusive practice
- Liaise with parents/carers, external professionals, and local authority services
- Maintain accurate SEND records and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
- Support staff through training, guidance, and coaching to improve SEND outcomes
- Contribute to the school's strategic development as part of the leadership team (if applicable)
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or willingness to complete it within the required timeframe
- Experience working with children with SEND in a primary school setting
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
