Primary Teaching Assistant

Overview

Strategy Education are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant with Midday Assistant duties.

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Southend is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join the team. The role involves working closely with children in Key Stages 1 and 2, including pupils with autism and a range of additional learning needs. The LSA will provide one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils to thrive academically, socially and emotionally in a safe and nurturing environment.

• Support children with special educational needs, including autism, to access learning in class
• Provide tailored assistance to help meet individual education and behaviour plans (EHCPs)
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive behaviour through structured support
• Assist with adapting resources and activities to suit individual learning styles
• Work collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO and parents to ensure pupils  needs are met
• Record and share observations on pupil progress and achievements

• Patience, empathy and understanding when working with children with SEN
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
• Flexibility and initiative to adapt quickly in a busy classroom environment
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• Experience of supporting children in a school or childcare setting is desirable, but training can be provided
• Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
